Betsy Hanner Wows at August 26th Print SIG Meeting.

Thirty-eight attendees were treated to a highly informative presentation by Photography Group member Betsy Hanner, who showcased the art of enhancing Black and White photographic prints with PanPastels®.

Betsy's presentation was extremely well received by the attendees, many of whom had never attended a Print SIG meeting before.  Just goes to show that there is a creative Artist lurking in our camera bags that just wants to get out.

Her presentation appealed to those seeking a new and different creative outlet for their photographic endeavors. The use of Pan Pastel Pastels® and an affordable desktop all-in-one printer can bring a high level of personal satisfaction and a sense of accomplishment... and fulfill that creative urge.

According to Betsy, "You do not need an expensive high-end camera to create the photograph... a simple point and shoot will do. Because you reduce the image to its basic form, image technical quality is also not an issue.  Most any home office All-in-One printer will be good enough, and a set of PanPastel® pastels is very affordable."  She added, "The whole idea is to create something interesting and or beautiful and have fun doing it... all without breaking the bank!"

Betsy learned her craft from Dianne Poinski who is a highly regarded mixed-media artist who works in a variety of materials often incorporating photographic elements. She is also highly regarded as an Art teacher who offers a variety of online workshops which can be taken by enrolling on her website.

Print Special Interest Group... what it's all about.

"If it's not on paper it's not a photograph!!"

Those might be fighting words for some of our members, but there are those among us that believe in the sentiment.  The Print SIG is for them.

The Print Special Interest Group meets on the 4th Wednesday of the month in the Orchard Creek Lodge Multi-purpose Room, from 10:30am to 11:30am, immediately after the Round Table SIG.

The SIG is dedicated to advancing the art of putting images on paper.  Members are encouraged to present their photographs for discussion and evaluation.  We also explore printing techniques, printing papers, matting and framing techniques and the software tools used to prepare our images for printing.

While many of our members use their own desktop printers to print their images, others use the services of third-party printing solutions such as Costco, Bay Photo, Aspen Creek and others.

If you want to learn about printing, preparing your images for third-party services, or improving your printing techniques and methods, this it the place to get the information you need.

If you want to learn more about the group, stop by and check out one of our meetings.
