On November 15th, 2024, nine members of our club ventured south to Walnut Grove, Thornton, and Lodi visiting the wild bird preserves:

• Cosumnes River Preserve, Walnut Grove

• Sandhill Cranes - Staten Island, Thornton

• Isenberg/Woodbridge Ecological Reserve, Lodi

It’s a 90-minute drive from Sun City and all three preserves are within a twenty-mile radius. Our objective was to photography before and at dusk to images of migrating bird with the colors of a sunset.

Club members Larry White, Nancy Whitaker and Truman Holtzclaw provided in-depth insight on bird species and tips on how they capture the splendor of these magnificent flying creatures.

We brought picnic dinners and enjoyed the peace and beauty of nature interacting with the wildlife.
