Time, Mood and a Splash of Zen

David Wong is April 11, 2018 Featured Presenter

David Wong, our April presenter offerd the following observations, "One of the biggest challenges in photography is how to make a photograph tell a story. A painter can paint the vision they want to see, a sculptor molds their mind’s image. we, as photographers, have to use our tools to put the reality 'we see' into a compelling story. Why is it that some photographs draw the viewer to revisit one photo over and over while others only warrant a single view? What elements and techniques do we “paint” our photographs with to make them compelling?"

David will showed some of his photography and the works of other photographers during the presentation. He discussed some of the most successful tools he and others have found not only for landscapes but also in portraiture and sports. He talked about the use of time, motion, light, focus, artful composition and other techniques to create photographs that tell a more compelling story.

As a life-long learner, David believes that sharing his photographs with other photographers, helps him to learn from the views of others.
