"SINGLE FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY"
Zoom in for a Closer Look with Arik Gorban
Many camera and smartphone photographers avoid using their flash units because the unfamiliar can be somewhat intimidating. We often use them as a last resort to get a picture when there is low ambient light. And how many of us have a flash unit that we have never used tucked away with our photography gear? In our October presentation, Arik Gorban will show us how to take advantage of small flash units and portable accessories to create quality, natural-looking, images. We will learn about portable lighting, light modifiers, and lighting techniques as well as how to utilize them for better results when photographing events, portraits, still life, and various natural subjects.
Topics covered include:
TTL and manual flash modes
Exposure metering and adding fill-flash to available light
Slow sync speed and Rear Curtain sync
Wired and wireless off-camera flash
Techniques for using a single flash to get natural-looking pictures
Small light modifiers (e.g., reflectors, umbrellas)
This Zoom presentation will be in the Kilaga Springs Presentation Hall on October 11 at 9:00 AM. Armed with this new knowledge, the November meeting will be a hands-on workshop to gain experience and confidence in using flash units!
