Mono Lake’s South Tufa Area is a favorite and sunrise or moonrise will see photographers with tripods eager to photograph the beauty.

From Lee Vining, head south about five miles and turn left on Highway 120 (east). After five miles, turn left at sign for South Tufa. Park in the South Tufa parking lot.

They have a visitor Center with a variety of exhibits about the natural and human history of the Mono Basin.
