Vicki White’s October Photo Enhancement SIG Presentation Recap

Photo Club members were treated to an outstanding presentation on mobile phone photography by our very own Vicki White at the October 7th Photo Enhancement SIG meeting.

Vicki presented the latest features of the new iPhone 6s and showcased a variety of the accessories and applications that are available to users of the iPhone.  While her presentation centered on the iPhone, Android phone users benefited from the knowledge that many of the accessories and applications discussed could be applicable to their phones as well.

According to Vicki, “The world’s best camera is the one you have with you - your phone or tablet.  Your smartphone not only enables you to capture your memorable moments spontaneously, it also gives your creative side a chance to do magical things with that photo!”

At the meeting, Vicki demonstrated how to successfully use all the features of the iPhone’s native Camera Application.  Regarding “third party” Photography Appliations she pointed out that the Android Phone universe has hundreds of “Photography Applications” as well. One of her main points in the presentation was to “ think of your phone as a creative instrument... not just a phone.”

She pointed out that with the hundreds of apps available for both the iPhone and Android Phones, you will be able to do things that you just can’t do on a Big Boy-Girl camera!  At least not without first moving the image from the camera to your computer or tablet.

During the session she presented a series of before and after images that illustrated the effects that could be achieved using some of the more dynamic photo manipulation applications. Her final point was that “You"ll be amazed at how fun it can be to turn photos and videos into works of art!”
