Sundial Bridge, Redding

The Sundial Bridge is located in Redding’s Turtle Bay Exploration Park. The structure holds up a pedestrian bridge spanning the Sacramento River. During the day, the sundial actually works, although it is accurate at the summer solstice. At night, it is nicely lit, and the bridge has a glass flooring which is lit from underneath. See the attached PDF file for a gallery of photos.

Not far from Redding is Shasta Lake, Whiskeytown Lake, Lassen Park, the Pilgrim Congregational Church designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, and numerous other interesting places to photograph.

Redding is about 150 miles from SCLH. We stayed a couple of days at the Oxford Suites, not expensive, with a great hot breakfast buffet and an afternoon happy hour. In early August, all was included in the room price.
