The General Meeting, in Kilaga Presentation Hall usually features a guest speaker on a specific aspect of photography. It also is a forum to discuss current and upcoming events of interest.

Special Learning Session (SLS) (was Photography Special Interest Group) - 1st Wednesday @ 9:00AM
The Special Learning Session (SLS) includes exploration of camera settings, composition tips, post processing tools, smart phone photography, and specialized areas such as bird and Milky Way photography. The presentations are developed to take into consideration the needs of beginner and intermediate photographers, as well as, a refresher for more advanced users. Speakers and suggestions are welcome. What is Silhouette Photography?

Silhouette photography is the art of creating striking black shapes against bright backgrounds. It is a technique that emphasizes the shape and form of a subject.
This program will explore the many different ways we can create beautiful and stunning images by using both forms and backgrounds. Come and you will find a new, exciting and creative form of photography!

"Seven Days in Spring" Club Project Proposal
At our October 9, 2024, General Meeting, Ron Nabity reviewed his proposal for a Club project/challenge to capture a one-week snapshot of life in Sun City Lincoln Hills (SCLH). This would include photos and captions that describe the variety of people, activities and lifestyle in SCLH. Ron's presentation was recorded in a brief video which can be reviewed below. His proposal was followed by an interesting exchange of suggestions and comments from our Club membership which are included in this 30 minute video.

Upcoming Field Trip!
A Visit to the Wild Kingdom of Animals at the Sacramento Zoo
Friday January 24, 2025 at 9am 3930 W Land Park Dr, Sacramento
We are kicking off 2025 with a local adventure at the Sacramento Zoo. Nearly 400 native, rare and endangered animals call the Sacramento Zoo home. Sacramento Zoo | Accredited Zoo With Almost 400 Animals
We suggest getting there when gates open at 9am. If you need a ride, meet us at Orchard Creek Lodge parking lot by the Fitness Center. We will be leaving at 8am. For those interested, we are getting together for breakfast at Meridians at 7am.
Zoo Entry, if you are a Zoo member already you can get right in. For non-members, $20 for seniors. However, depending on the day the Zoo may offer discounts. Please book your access pass directly. The Zoo’s entrance is on Land Park Drive between 15th Ave. and 17th Ave. Plan Your Visit | Sacramento Zoo​​​

Field Trip: Sac Tower Bridge at Sunset
Tuesday February 18th, 4:00pm
Park at the Tower Bridge Garage - 1289 Front St, Sacramento, CA 95814
You may have driven on it or walked it, but have you photographed the Sacramento Tower Bridge at sunset? Come join fellow members as we set-up and capture our hometown bridge in the wading sunset. Truman Holtzclaw will be leading this photographic journey providing insights on best ways to approach this shoot. Around the bridge you can stroll along the river, or Old Sacramento building fronts for street photo opportunities. There is also the California Railroad Museum and Union Pacific station for a change a pace. Recommend a earlier departure if you plan to see the museum. It opens at 10AM.​

At 4:15pm, we gather at Tower Bridge Garage (sunset is 5:46pm) and walk over the bridge to the area Truman recommends for the best angles. You will also be able to take dusk photos looking across the river of Old Sac. After the shoot, we will stroll back to Old Sac and have dinner at Bear and Crown (British Pub style food, sandwiches, burgers, etc.).

Exhibits
Orchard Creek Rotunda Exhibit Held July through August 2024 - Success!!
Rhonda Campbell coordinated the Orchard Creek Rotunda Exhibit, which was held from July to August 2024. Due to the COVID crisis, it's been a while since LHPC members have had exhibits in Orchard Creek. It was exciting that many photographers participated, and several sold their photographs.
Return to this site beginning in the Spring or Summer of 2025 for potential news about future exhibit plans at Orchard Creek.

Buonarroti's Restaurant

The LH Photo Club installed its most recent photography exhibit at Buonarroti Ristorante on October 4. This exhibit will be on display until February 7, 2025. The exhibit features fifteen photographs by three LH Photo Club members: Maggie McGurk, Glenn Fidler, and Ron Nabity.

Current Exhibit - Kilaga Springs Spa
Kilaga Springs Spa currently has an exhibit.
Themes of the photo images, which must be followed for each Spa room, are: Ponds, Beaches, Lakes, Meadows, Forests, Streams and also Landscapes and Flowers.

Current Exhibit - Simple Pleasures
The current LHPC exhibit at Simple Pleasures Restaurant will close on October 7, 2024. Photographers will meet at Simple Pleasures between 2:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. to take down their photos, and the Painters will hang their art.

The next opportunity to participate in the Simple Pleasures Restaurant exhibit will be February 2025. Check back to this site for details.

SCLH Photography Club Facebook Page
This is a place for SCLH Photography Club Members to have a conversation about photography, cameras, and places to shoot photography in the area. You can ask a specific "how to" or "where can I find..." or "how can I improve this shot?" or "thinking of going to.....does anyone want to come too?" You can post great photography-related websites that others might like. Use your creativity. The SCLH Photography Facebook page is a PRIVATE page. Only members of LH Photography Club can join this Facebook page, and they cannot invite family nor friends.
