Want to see hundreds of swallows flying to and from their nests? You need to travel no further than Thunder Valley Casino. On the northeast corner of their property (near the train tracks) is a “Swallow Tower” costing $1,500,000 to build about 10 years ago.

The entire building is covered by swallow nests. It's a very busy place!

 

When we were there on June 4th, hundreds of birds were flying in and out of the sanctuary. We wondered how each bird knows how to locate their own nest. While the area adjacent to the tower is fenced off, you can take great pictures from the parking lot. There are lots of droppings, so consider wearing a hat or carrying an umbrella!
