Take it don't fake it.

This article explores the question of when is a photogaph no longer a photograph. Many of us use software to make our photos look better. We even sometimes change the content of the photo by adding or subtracting elements or changing an element of the photo. At what point has the photo sufficiently altered from what came out of the camera that it can no longer be considered a photograph? Check out the article here: http://www.paulreiffer.com/2016/01/take-it-dont-fake-it-the-disturbing-rise-of-photoshop-ography/

Who Influenced Saul Leiter? - Ted Forbes - The Art of Photography

Recently while researching an episode that I'm working on (Saul Leiter, Early Black and White) - I found an interesting quote from an interview stating who Saul Leiter's influences were. He cited Edgar Degas, Pierre Bonnard and Édouard Vuillard. Saul was also a painter his whole life, though he's less known for his painting work. I'm not sure if Saul knew this, but all 3 of the painters he named as influences were also photographers.

Digital Review - Pro DSLR + Cheapo Lens vs "Cheapo" DSLR + Pro Lens

This video provides one answer to a fairly common question. Should you spend most of your money on an expensive camera and then spend the remainder on lesser quality lenses or should you buy a less expensive camera and spend more money on getting high quality lenses. From what I have read buying more expensive lenses is the preferred option. This is especially true given that today’s DSLRs all take pretty good pictures. If you invest in high quality lenses, also often referred to as “glass”, you will be able to keep and use those lenses for a long time as long as you purchase the same brand of camera when you upgrade.
